Double Gold Medal at 2021 Amador County Fair 

This is a wonderful example of Calaveras Cabernet. Bordeaux blend of 77%  Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec and 3% Merlot. It is warm and inviting on the nose with vanilla, cinnamon, dark fruit and tobacco. Bright and bold, yet true to Cabernet character, this wine is smooth and mouth-filling with a rich aftertaste of boysenberry. Nice and soft tannins. 

Lively on the nose, aromas of fresh violet petals and spices give way to a mouthwatering palate of ripe blackberry, raspberry, anise, and toffee brittle. Vibrant acidity and a bright, juicy finish. With our Barbera try rich dark meats, mushrooms, herbs, herbaceous cheeses like blue cheese, higher tannin foods like root vegetables & braised greens. The idea here is that the bright acidity in the wine will make a rich fatty or high tannin dish complete.

When you taste this wine, expect palate-coating and tooth-staining richness of blueberry, plum, blackberry, bittersweet cocoa and often a subtle stimulating flavor of mint and violet. The texture of the wine is balanced and when you brush your tongue to the roof of your mouth, you’ll notice fine gravelly tannins.

Aromas & notes of blackberries, violets, & pepper with a touch of clove. 

Our 2020 Clockspring Zinfandel is a challenging and rewarding wine to make. Amazing fruit, detailed selection criteria and master blending show in the final wine. A wide array of jammy raspberry and plum aromas followed by black cherry, strawberry and vanilla flavors lead to a smooth and lengthy finish.
