Milliaire Winery is located in Murphys,
California in the Sierra Foothills. We established our family winery in 1983.
Today we run the winery with the help of our children Kathy and Bob. We do not
own any vineyards, so we select grapes that are representative of the soils
where they are grown and work with growers who share this same ideal.
At Milliaire we use traditional techniques to
produce limited bottlings of wine from select Foothill vineyards. Conservative
cellaring practices and aging in small oak barrels develop fullness of flavor
and bouquet. All the reds are fermented in open half-ton bins with a punched
cap. Native yeast are used to ferment. The whites are all barrel fermented. The
Chardonnay is maintained sur lees until bottling, with weekly stirring. The
resulting wines capture the essence unique to each vineyard. A toast to your
good health, from Liz & Steve Millier.
